2025 kicked off in the best possible way for the team behind Le Hibou, with prestigious wins at both the Swedish Gastronomy Awards and Bartenders’ Choice Awards (BCA).
These accolades are a true testament to the craftsmanship, passion, and precision that define every evening on our rooftop. From innovative cocktails to warm, attentive service, Le Hibou continues to be a go-to destination for those in search of something truly special,high above the buzz of the city. We sat down with the team to talk about what drives them, what they carry with them from the past year, and what’s in store for the summer season ahead.
What does it feel like to win both the BCA and the Swedish Gastronomy Award in the same year?
The pride in the room is palpable. The team describes the experience as surreal but incredibly exciting. “This isn’t something that happens overnight. It’s the result of something we’ve built together over a long period of time,” one team member shares.
It’s clear that it’s about more than just the awards. These wins reflect the relationships, routines, and pride that shape their daily work. “We’re humble, of course but getting this kind of recognition feels amazing. It belongs to the whole team and everything we’ve built together.”
What do you think makes Le Hibou so appreciated – by both guests and industry peers?
The answer comes quickly: joy. “We genuinely have fun at work and that energy is contagious. Guests feel it right away.”
That team spirit runs through every part of the experience, from the service to the atmosphere. “You can tell when people are just going through the motions. Here, we’re actually creating something together and that shows.”
And yes – having one of Stockholm’s best views doesn’t hurt either.
Le Hibou has a pretty unique identity. How would you describe the vibe here?
It’s a balance of relaxed luxury and personal warmth. “It’s first-class service, but with first-class generosity and authenticity.”
Guests may expect a classic, formal hotel rooftop instead, they’re greeted by something much more inviting and human. “It’s elegant, but never stiff. We want it to feel personal, relaxed, and fun.”
Can you share a moment from the past year that really stayed with you?
The launch of the Perspectives cocktail menu comes up again and again. It was the first time every team member had been so deeply involved in the creative process from concept to final product. “We poured our hearts and souls into it. And that made all of us more engaged and proud.”
Which drink best represents Le Hibou right now – and why?
The unanimous answer: Green Banana.
“It’s the one we all recommend first. It’s elegant and crisp and also fun. Rum and banana might sound unexpected, but it works. That’s the kind of surprising balance we love.”
What’s inspiring you right now – in terms of flavor, service, or atmosphere?
The team draws inspiration both from within and from the evolving bar scene around them. “There’s so much talent here, and everyone contributes their own touch. We inspire each other all the time.”
They also keep a close eye on the Nordic bar and food scene. “We love using Scandinavian ingredients and we’re not purists. The most important thing is that the flavors actually come through. If a drink says yogurt on the menu it had better taste like yogurt.”
Tell us about the new summer menu!
This summer, the team is building on the success of Perspectives with a seasonal twist: Perspectives of Summer.
“It’s exactly what you want to drink when the sun’s out, lighter, fresher, more summery ingredients, but with the same attention to quality and detail.” It’s not a total overhaul, more of a refined seasonal shift. “It’s about adapting to the time of year, not reinventing what already works.”
If you had to describe Le Hibou in three words?
Authentic. Fun. Personal.
“We want it to feel real. And we want it to be fun for us and for the guest. That’s what creates the atmosphere.”
What are you most looking forward to this year?
“Continuing to deliver. Welcoming new guests and welcoming back the ones who already know their way up here.”
There’s no doubt the team is excited for a bright and buzzing summer ahead. “To have an incredible season together that’s really it.”
And finally – what would you like to say to all the guests who make Le Hibou what it is?
“Thank you. You create this with us. Without you there is no us.”
It’s not uncommon for guests to stumble upon Le Hibou by chance and end up staying. Then returning. That, according to the team, is the clearest sign that something truly special happens here every night.
