We at Bank Hotel and Bonnies are proud that our signature dessert, “Smash the Piggy Bank,” has been featured in a recent article by Lagerlings as one of Östermalm’s most iconic dishes.
Over the years, this district has been home to several culinary classics, from Toast Skagen to the Wallenbergare. Now, our chocolate pig takes its place among them – a dessert that has become a favorite among our guests and a hot topic in Stockholm’s restaurant scene.
When Bank Hotel opened six years ago, we wanted to create a dessert that honored our building’s past as a bank while also offering something visually spectacular and irresistibly delicious. The result was “Smash the Piggy Bank” – a chocolate pig filled with meringues, pralines, cookies, and freeze-dried berries, served on a vanilla bavarois with lightly whipped cream. On the side, guests enjoy ice cream or sorbet, and the experience is completed when warm caramel sauce is poured over before the piggy bank is smashed with a hammer.
